Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
Our Olympic-themed Active Aging Week kicked off with a celebration that included an open invitation to our community with the tagline, “Active Aging Week like you’ve never seen before!” In alignment with our belief that “everyone is aging,” all ages enjoyed food, live music, family swim, and a cornhole tournament. Perhaps the best triumph of the week was introducing new people to opportunities to be active at our facility! Other events included a pool tournament, putt-putt golf, a shuffleboard tournament, a euchre tournament, group fitness classes, a lesson on French language and culture, a presentation from a Team USA athlete, door prizes, a trip to a winery, and an indoor triathlon. One indoor triathlon competitor, age 55, proudly proclaimed that this was the only endurance competition she’s ever done! Another competitor, age 34, completed the short and long triathlons as her first triathlon experience ever! The most memorable part of the week was watching people overcome self-doubt and fear of trying something new, whether it was a competition or a trip. Even we, as the organizers, tried something new by engaging all ages! We are proud of the community connection we created and our commitment to active aging.
