Our Active Aging week was jammed packed with events focusing on wellness elements such as movement, rest, nourishment and community. On Sept 30th we focused on the “why” and “what” of movement. Wellness and Fitness instructors gave a presentation on the benefits of daily movement within their training scope which included upper and lower body exercises and Tai Chi. October 1st brought the Pink Party to bring residents together for breast cancer awareness and compassionate health advocacy. A presenter was onsite to share her journey and offer support to those struggling. On October 2nd we focused on a tranquil rest session with Christina and her sound bowls. With a comforting ambiance, resident enjoyed this full body immersion that used sound waves to achieve full body relaxation. October 3rd OSU Professor of Nutrition Emily Ho presented on the benefits of proper nourishment and how it affects aging. Dr. Ho focused on essential nutrients that helps to aid in proper functioning for the senior community. On October 4th, the whole community celebrated autumn traditions with the Harvest Festival. This included line dancing, a live band, fall treats and a chance to churn up one’s own apple juice.
