Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
The Ellicott City 50+ Fitness Center in Howard County, MD celebrated their first Active Aging Week by focusing on all levels of well-being. We kicked off the week with Power Up Monday focusing on cardio health with written cardio workout give aways, cardio classes such as cardio Kickboxing and Zumba. Try-It Tuesday started with a make your own oatmeal bar and vision board creation station. We also offered a free seminar on The Benefits of Exercise on Bone Health. Wednesday was Outdoor Action Day with our Superhero half mile walk, with action stations while inviting the community to enjoy this intergenerational activity. Thoughtful Thursday added a mindful focus with our thoughtful tree of healthy goals for the rest of 2024 and Friendly Friday and Saturday we invited guests to join us for Tasty Tidbits - low sugar pumpkin bread and fitness classes for friends. The highlights of the week were noted by our members enjoying spending time focusing on their own active lifestyles and sharing them with others. As Lori one of our new members stated, "It has been great learning this week that being active as I get older is not only good for me but so much fun! I love that I can call a new friend and say let's go take a class or a walk and not just go meet for coffee."
