Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
We had an incredible Active Aging Week! It’s a great way to offer events outside of our regular routine and promote our holistic approach to wellness. The variety of activities we offered really emphasized the importance of engagement and connection for all levels of living. Physical Wellness included new offers of an Aqua Zumba and line dancing, which are fun ways to get everyone moving! The obstacle course encouraged friendly competition and teamwork, while Tai Chi self-defense forms offered both physical activity and practical skills. Spiritual Wellness offers included a community wide gratitude tree and blessing of the animals for fostering a sense of community, connection and joy for our residents. Intellectual/Vocational Wellness offers included a historic library and archives tour and our resident led lifelong learning sessions to keep minds active and encourage sharing of knowledge among residents. It’s a great opportunity for our residents to learn from each other. Social Wellness happens whenever we gather, and our Fall Fun Day was a highlight! Food, games, and flowers were wonderful ways to create lasting memories and strengthen community bonds. Overall, our active aging week was both enriching and enjoyable, creating lasting impacts on our residents' quality of life.
