Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."

Heisinger Bluffs knocked the socks off Active Aging week! We kicked off the week with a weeklong scavenger hunt that began with Social Bingo Blackout. Residents were encouraged to get in physical and mental exercise by traveling throughout the community solving various puzzles and riddles. Coinciding with the scavenger hunt, this year residents had daily exercise classes, daily themed dress up days, and an emphasis on connecting with our local community. We connected with the local hospital for a “Keeping the Keys” presentation and with the local garden club for a tea party social. As the city lit up our state capital in purple for Alzheimer’s Awareness day, we dressed in purple to honor the day. The mission of the week was to inspire residents to gain a positive perspective on aging. Though we have no control over getting older in age, we do have control of our own wellness journey.
