Stoneridge Creek Retirement Community: For months, residents of Stoneridge Creek senior living community in Pleasanton California have been lacing up their shoes, strapping on Fitbits, and more, in preparation for a very robust Active Aging Week. The entire week included over 450 Residents participating in a variety of programs for all levels of involvement. Susan Filice, Life Enrichment Director, came up with the idea for participating in Active Aging Week, a first for this community. Engaging resident volunteers, she planned programs for residents to champion their active lifestyle. Monday kicked off the week with Senior Olympics and a host of physical challenges. Tuesday, nearly 200 Residents and staff walked the 2-mile expanse of the Golden Gate Bridge, a bucket list item for many participants. Wednesday, the Table Tennis Club, with over 50 members, held tournaments, lectures on the benefits of Table Tennis, workshops, and coaching sessions on the and fundamentals of the game. Thursday, Resident Artists displayed their artwork and provided demonstrations of how they create their art. Friday celebrated the official release for the first Stoneridge Creek Resident Calendar where Residents portrayed various iconic actors and figures. A celebration closed out the week with a “We Are Community” party on Saturday.
