Now in its ninth year, the WALK! with Aegis Therapies® 2017 is a six-day celebration of health and wellness that takes place on September 24 – September 30. This event, held at hundreds of locations and various settings across the country, focuses every day on a different dimension of wellness using a series of walking sessions and exciting activities.
The presenters of this event include the EnerG® by Aegis wellness program and the International Council on Active Aging® in support of Active Aging Week. This year’s theme is “Ignite your passion”

The Days’ Events
On each of the six days, the award-winning WALK! with Aegis Therapies guided program features activities that support the dimensions of wellness, including: physical (each day), intellectual, emotional, spiritual, occupational, environmental (each day) and social.
To support the physical dimension of wellness, each day you are encouraged to participate in 15 to 30 minutes of walking or alternative seated activities. Seated physical activities and activities to support additional dimensions of wellness are outlined in the guide on www.WalkWithAegis.com when logged in.
For environmental wellness, take time every day to be aware of your surroundings and appreciate earth’s gifts – plants, animals, elements, energy and more – by being outdoors and taking care of the environment.
Sunday, September 24
Take a turn at creative and stimulating mental activities including trivia questions, sudoku puzzles and brain teasers.
Monday, September 25
The guide includes exercises for stress relief including progressive muscle relaxation and self-massage.
Tuesday, September 26
Merge the physical realm of wellness with the spiritual and complete a 15-minute guided meditation segment led by Chris Freytag, a nationally-recognized fitness expert, and deep breathing exercise techniques. Download the guided meditation audio file on the website.
Wednesday, September 27
The guide encourages you to “Name the Occupation” by matching famous people with their occupation and discuss favorite activities associated with each dimension of wellness.
Thursday, September 28
On this day, you will be encouraged to focus on the importance of socializing with others. Socializing involves personal interactions, having meaningful relationships, respecting yourself and others, and creating a support system that includes family, friends and caregivers.
Friday, September 29
Celebration of Wellness
Today, you will wrap up the week by spending time with family, friends, neighbors and pets as the Grand Finale. In addition to celebrating each of the wellness dimensions.
Once registered and logged in to www.WalkWithAegis.com, you will find all of the resources you need to start your WALK! with Aegis Therapies event under the “Resources” tab, in addition to a place to log your participation. You will also be able to print a certificate of completion from the website to celebrate your accomplishment.
